Lebanon has seized 40 kilograms of cocaine at Beirut airport in what The National describes as the facility's largest drug bust on record. The case has drawn attention to Ghana because of questions over how a suspected trafficker was allowed to travel from the country before the seizure.
According to Modern Ghana, analyst Adib Saani argues that the damage control offered by Ghana's Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) creates more uncertainty than it resolves. Graphic Online reports that Bright Simons has also challenged NACOC's "controlled delivery" explanation for permitting the suspect to leave Ghana for Lebanon, saying the account does not hold together.
The debate has widened beyond the seizure itself. GhanaWeb reports that Larry Dogbey has made allegations about how drugs entered Ghana during the Akufo-Addo administration, including claims about dead sniffer dogs and a NACOC pullout. Those claims are attributed to Dogbey and have not been independently verified in the reporting summarised here.
